Varian Eclipse TPS: Monte Carlo-Class Dose Calculation with Acuros XB for Lung SBRT
Varian Eclipse's Acuros XB algorithm solves the Linear Boltzmann Transport Equation to deliver Monte Carlo–class dose calculation accuracy in clinical treatment planning workflows. This article examines how Acuros XB outperforms conventional pencil-beam convolution in lung heterogeneity, with a focus on SBRT plan evaluation, DVH analysis, and GPU-accelerated adaptive radiotherapy. Commissioning requirements per AAPM TG-114 and TG-244 are also addressed.
